Thanks to Dana for starting this blog....
What helped me lose the initial 20 pounds was incorporating carbs that are low on the glycemic index into my diet. For example, using Agave honey instead of sugar in my coffee or as syrup on wheat pancakes etc.
I also found out that sourdough bread (low on the GL index as well) is best for diabetics......
